Job Title: Consultant Cardiologist
We are seeking a proactive, motivated, and compassionate colleague to join our Cardiology and Radiology services at Northwest Anglia NHS Foundation Trust (NWAFT). This role offers the opportunity to re-establish and expand the cardiac MRI service at NWAFT and be part of our expanding cardiology consultant team. There may be scope for MRI reporting sessions at Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the re-establishment and development of cardiac MRI services at Peterborough City Hospital.
2. Deliver comprehensive general cardiology services, including outpatient clinics and inpatient ward work.
3. Share responsibility for service management and participate in strategic planning to meet local needs.
4. Drive innovation and excellence in cardiac imaging.
5. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical governance activities.
6. Provide teaching, training, and mentorship within the cardiology team.
7. Contribute to service development initiatives across the region.
Ward Cover and On-Call Arrangements:
The Cardiologist of the Week provides ward cover for 30 beds and manages cardiology referrals, with a rota operating on a 1-in-7 basis. Weekend ward rounds are on-site. Plans are underway to develop 24/7 consultant cover.
Outpatient Clinics:
Standard outpatient clinics include 11 patients (5 new, 6 follow-up) for general clinics and 10 patients (5 new, 5 follow-up) for specialist clinics.
