SEND Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support)Location: Edgware Setting: Specialist SEND College Contract: Full-time / Term-time We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to join our specialist college in Edgware, supporting a teenage student on a 1:1 basis. This is a highly rewarding role for someone passionate about making a meaningful difference to a young person with additional needs. The successful candidate will provide consistent, structured support to help the student access learning, develop independence, and engage positively with college life. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 support to a male teenage learner with complex SEND needs Assist with personal care as required, maintaining dignity and safeguarding at all times Support emotional regulation and respond calmly to challenging behaviour Implement behaviour support strategies in line with the student’s individual support plan Work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and pastoral teams Promote independence, social skills, and positive engagement Ensure a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Experience working with children or young people with SEND (education, care, or youth work) Confidence managing challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner A patient, empathetic, and consistent approach Willingness to support with personal care Strong communication and teamwork skills A commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice We Offer: A supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team Ongoing training and professional development The opportunity to make a genuine impact on a young person’s life A specialist college environment with strong values and structure This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check and relevant safeguarding checks.
