Job Summary
Defence Healthcare Group (DHRG) is recruiting a Band 7 Occupational Health Clinician to support the delivery of a peripatetic Occupational Health service within the Ministry of Defence. The role involves regular travel between base locations and assigned units, supporting service personnel and contributing to force readiness and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage own clinical caseload and support Service Personnel (SP) through their clinical pathway, ensuring best practice and compliance with Defence Primary Healthcare policy.
* Lead clinical quality improvement initiatives, including supervision, evidence‑based practice, audit, research and education to maximise OH outputs.
* Develop, teach and lead Occupational Health staff, fostering teamwork and clinical excellence.
* Design and implement evidence‑based protocols, standards and guidelines; evaluate effectiveness through quality assurance mechanisms such as audits and peer review.
* Deliver complex OH interventions (e.g., Return to Work plans) in collaboration with wider clinical teams and chain of command.
* Monitor staffing levels and ensure adequate skilled personnel during operating hours; enact business resilience and escalation procedures when required.
Required Qualifications & Experience
* Qualified Occupational Therapist or Registered Nurse with current registration (HCPC or NMC).
* Experience in Occupational Health or Vocational Rehabilitation.
* Current driving licence; role is peripatetic and public transport is not an option.
* Professional knowledge acquired through a degree plus postgraduate study relevant to the practice area.
Desirable Attributes
* Armed Forces healthcare experience (single service or tri‑service).
* Evidence of previous leadership or education roles within occupational health.
Selection Process

— Interview will assess competencies through a structured framework (communication, personal development, care planning, interventions, people management).

Pay & Benefits
Band 7 – £46,148 to £48,526 per annum (pro‑rated for part‑time).
Full‑time, job share is available. Permanent contract. NHS pension scheme access.
Working Pattern & Location
Full‑time (37.5 hrs/week). Dispensing: Infantry Training Centre, Vimy Lines, Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire (DL9 3PS). Travel between base and units is required.
