Organisation UK Athletics Salary Voluntary (expenses paid) Location Remote Contract type Volunteer Closing date 7 December 2025 Job Description UK Athletics (UKA) is the national governing body for the Olympic and Paralympic sport of Athletics.
The Performance team are looking to recruit and develop a number of volunteer Team Managers with the right skills and attributes to support our delivery of Novuna Great Britain & Northern Ireland teams. Team Managers with the right skillset and attributes are an asset to our high performance team culture and will play an important role ensuring all operational and logistical elements of the team are taken care of to the highest standard.
Team Managers’ areas of responsibility will include:
• Travel with the team to assigned camps and competitions (this may be domestic and international events), managing day-to-day operations of the team for the duration of the event.
• Efficient management of all elements of travel, accommodation, competition training logistics while at the event.
• Act as a main point of contact for the team around logistical elements of the event, ensuring all relevant information is communicated in an efficient and timely manner.
• Working with the Team Leader and/or Senior Team Manager to ensure a safe environment in created for all team members.
• Where designated, be the Member Federation Safeguarding Lead
• Where applicable attending pre- and post- event planning and de-brief days as well as attending UKA Team Manager training days.
Successful candidates will preferably have previously been involved in team management within an
elite sporting environment or be able to demonstrate a keen interest in pursuing a career within sport through academic or voluntary experiences. Prior involvement within a Paralympic sporting environment and demonstration of understanding different athletes’ needs will be an advantage for those looking to attend Paralympic competitions. We are looking for individuals who take a hands-on
approach, are able to demonstrate a track record of working in a fast-paced environment, effectively prioitising their workload and meticulous attention to detail, to ensure all deadlines are met whilst
remaining calm under pressure.
It will be important that candidates can develop positive relationships with both internal and external
stakeholders (such as other team staff, local organizing committee staff etc.) and be a good communicator – both verbally and written.
Each year we will match Team Managers to opportunities in the programme calendar based on their previous experience, specific skill sets and how profiles would fit within the wider team for that event.

• World Athletics / World Para Athletics Championships and/or relevant preparation camps;
• European Athletics / World Para Athletics European Championships;
World / European Athletics Indoor Championships;
• World / European U20 Championships;
• European U18 & U23 Championships;
• World Para Junior Championships;
• World Athletics Relay Championships;
• World / European Road Running Championships;
• World / European Cross Country Championships;
• European Team Championships;
• World / European Mountain Running Championships;
• World / European Ultra Running Championships;
• World / European Race Walking Championships;
• European Athletics 10,000m Cup;
• European Athletics Winter Throws;
• UKA organised warm weather training, altitude or Relay camps or domestic training events.
This is a voluntary role, but UKA will cover all out of pocket expenses and a basic stipend to cover time away with the team will be provided. Team Managers will receive Novuna GB&NI kit when selected
as team staff. All domestic and international travel will be covered in line with UKA policies, as well as accommodation on a full board basis. Team Managers will be required to sign a Team Members Agreement, comply with all safeguarding and governance policies and generally maintain exemplary high professional standards at all times
