As a full-time Healthcare Support Worker on our 26-bed Midgley Ward which specializes in Respiratory and Acute Medicine you will provide high standards of care to our patients while working both independently and as part of a team, prioritising your workload to ensure quality care and demonstrating a caring and compassionate approach.
The ideal candidate will have some care experience and will be able to work night shifts. We offer a period of supernumerary time to support you into your role, and further learning and development are encouraged.
Responsibilities
* Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver a high standard of individualized nursing care to our patients.
* Communicate effectively, prioritising your workload to ensure the best outcomes for patients.
* Ensure your actions support the care, protection, and well-being of individuals, and maintain their privacy and dignity at all times.
* Monitor and record vital signs, escort patients off the ward for investigations/scans, and assist with personal care and nutritional support.
* Be flexible to work days, nights, and weekends.
* Observe, monitor and record patients’ conditions by taking temperature, pulse, respirations, oxygen saturations, and weight.
* Provide personalized care such as infection prevention and control, food, personal hygiene, and overall reassurance, comfort, and safety.
* Perform administrative duties: answer the telephone, take messages, and refer to the Staff Nurse; participate in ward/unit meetings; encourage effective communication between staff.
* Assist with the undertaking and implementation of risk assessments.
* Communicate with staff, patients, relatives, and carers.
* Recognize and respond to situations within the work area, reporting to the nurse in charge and seeking advice from senior staff as required.
