Job Summary
ABL Health has expanded its Gloucestershire Healthy Lifestyle Service by launching a new Tobacco Dependency Outreach Service that supports priority communities to stop smoking through evidence‑led, community‑based interventions.
The Specialist Stop‑Smoking Practitioner delivers one‑to‑one and group support, generates referrals, and recommends nicotine replacement therapy to help residents achieve a smoke‑free future.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver evidence‑based stop‑smoking interventions (individual, group, telephone and online) tailored to priority communities including substance misuse, homelessness, LGBTQIA+ and social housing.
* Manage an active caseload, maintain accurate administrative and clinical records, and follow safeguarding and risk procedures.
* Provide ongoing motivational and behavioural support using motivational interviewing, health coaching and other behaviour‑change techniques.
* Conduct outreach at community events, collaborate with local partners, and assist with the co‑production of culturally responsive services.
* Analyse health and equality data to inform service delivery and identify opportunities for improvement.
* Lead peer support groups and embed smoking cessation into routine care with multidisciplinary teams.
* Attend training, service meetings and maintain relevant NCSCT qualifications.
* Support corporate initiatives, contribute to performance management, and uphold ABL Health values and EEO policies.
Qualifications and Experience
* Higher level education in health improvement, public health, social care or equivalent experience in smoking cessation or behaviour change interventions.
* Knowledge of behaviour‑change models and ability to apply them in practice.
* Experience engaging key partners within the community and working in community settings.
* Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage a caseload without day‑to‑day supervision.
* Desirable: NCSCT Practitioner, experience delivering training to target audiences, safeguarding knowledge, and understanding of national guidance.

Other Information
Contract: Permanent – Full‑time, flexible working.
Salary: £26,000‑£28,000 per year.
