This role is open to all internal staff and Kent and Medway Partnership Network Pathology staff, including those registered with our Staff Bank.
This is a permanent role with successful applicants based at Medway Maritime Hospital, Gillingham, but requiring work at Darent Valley Hospital, Dartford.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals for the post of Biomedical Scientist/ Specialist Biomedical Scientist.
For the Band 6 post, candidates must provide:
1. Completion of IBMS Specialist Portfolio or proven equivalent post-registration experience
2. Experience of working alone during out-of-hours service
3. Willingness to participate in out-of-hours service
4. Evidence of CPD
We seek well-motivated, HCPC-registered individuals with experience in an NHS pathology laboratory (or equivalent) to join our Haematology and Blood Transfusion Department based at Medway Maritime Hospital, Gillingham.
Our pathology laboratory, in partnership with Beckman Coulter UK, houses equipment including: Beckman Coulter DxH 900 Analyzers and Slidemaker/Stainer (SMS), IL(Werfen) TOP 770 and TOP 550 coagulation analyzers, Biorad Variant II for Haemoglobinopathy screening, and Ortho Vision blood grouping analyzers.
Successful applicants will participate in an ongoing quality program to maintain compliance with the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and UKAS standards.
This post requires full participation in a 24/7 shift pattern and offers enhanced pay in line with Agenda for Change unsocial hours payments for maintaining round-the-clock services.
