About The Role
Join our Painter Brothers team in Hereford and play a hands-on role in delivering Right First Time fabrication. As a Quality Inspector, you’ll be the expert eyes on the ground—protecting safety, strengthening compliance, and ensuring our customers receive defect-free work they can trust. You’ll be part of the on-site Quality Team, supporting welders, platers and skilled/semi-skilled operatives. You’ll work closely with internal project teams and supervision, and you’ll liaise externally with customers, client inspectors and relevant subcontractors.
What you'll be doing
* Carry out visual inspection (VI) and magnetic particle inspection (MT/MPI) of welds, identifying and reporting defects and non-conformances.
* Ensure required inspections are completed and records are maintained to the expected standard.
* Control non-conforming materials and raise non-conformance reports (NCRs) as needed.
* Support investigations and root-cause analysis, helping drive effective corrective actions.
* Review welding specifications and product standards, ensuring information and reporting requirements are in place before work starts.
* Support delivery of the project quality plan, ITPs and QCRs, and help ensure teams understand what “good” looks like.
* Carry out calibration of internal equipment used in production processes.
* Promote a relentless focus on Zero Harm and Right First Time throughout the fabrication team.
Who we're looking for
* Practical experience in welding and fabrication environments, including VI and MT/MPI.
* Self-motivated, able to work independently and confidently on a busy site.
* Strong communication skills, with the confidence to raise issues clearly and constructively.
* Highly observant with excellent attention to detail.
* Good report writing and numeracy skills.
* Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office 365.
* Ability to plan your work and deliver to deadlines.
Qualifications & Certifications
* CSWIP 3.0 Welding Visual Inspector (essential)
* Magnetic Particle Testing Level 2 (MT L2) (essential)
* Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) (desirable)
