Delapré Abbey is one of Northampton’s most cherished heritage sites — a place where history, community, and enterprise come together. Alongside opening up 900 years of history to visitors, the Trust delivers weddings, corporate and private events, seasonal markets, live music concerts, retail, tenancies, and even filming opportunities. These activities are vital in sustaining the Abbey’s long-term future and extending its reach as a charitable organisation.
We’re now looking for a Head of Business to lead the growth and diversification of our commercial operations. This pivotal role will shape and deliver the Abbey’s business strategy, drive income generation, and ensure outstanding customer experiences across our venues, events, retail, and partnerships.
Joining at an exciting time, you’ll help realise our ambitious 15-year master plan, including the redevelopment of the 19th Century Stables into a hub for wellbeing, retail, and community life.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading and developing our commercial teams across weddings, events, retail, tenancies, and sponsorship.
* Driving income growth through innovative sales and marketing strategies.
* Building strong partnerships and networks within travel trade, events, and the wider community.
* Identifying and capitalising on new revenue streams and opportunities.
* Ensuring high-quality customer experiences that strengthen the Abbey’s reputation.
What we’re looking for:
✔ Proven experience in business development or commercial management (ideally heritage, culture, or visitor attractions).
✔ A track record of delivering commercial strategies and growing income.
✔ Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire teams.
✔ Financial acumen and experience in budget management.
✔ Creativity, innovation, and the drive to spot and deliver growth opportunities.
The package:
💷 Salary: £32,000 – £34,000 (DOE)
📅 Permanent, 40 hours per week (5 over 7, including evenings/weekends)
🏖 20 days holiday + bank holidays (rising with service)
