Our care home, based in Leeds, will specialise in complex physical and mental health needs for 140 residents. We’re seeking a dynamic Head Chef to lead the kitchen, ensuring residents enjoy delicious, nutritious meals every day.

Why This Role Matters
As the Head Chef, you’ll lead kitchen operations, crafting meals that satisfy and nourish. Your leadership will drive efficiency and ensure every dish meets the highest standards of quality and care.
What You’ll Do
* Meal Production: Take full responsibility for preparing, cooking, and serving hot and cold meals, meeting residents\' dietary needs and preferences.
* Menu Planning: Collaborate with the Group Executive Chef & Home Manager to plan and cost menus that provide a balanced, nutritious diet within budget.
* Kitchen Leadership: Supervise and instruct kitchen staff in equipment use and hygiene, providing guidance for smooth operations.
* Staff Training: Conduct Basic Food Hygiene training for all care staff involved in food handling and delivery.
* Professional Development: Maintain and enhance professional knowledge on culinary and food safety standards.
* Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of food supplies and monitor freezer and fridge temperatures.
* Stock Management: Oversee stock rotation, assist in ordering, check deliveries, and conduct stock valuations as required.
* Staff Scheduling: Prepare kitchen rotas, ensuring adequate coverage.
* Recruitment: Participate in interviews for new kitchen staff with the Home Manager.
* Health & Safety: Uphold statutory Health & Safety standards in the kitchen and dining areas.
* Kitchen Cleanliness: Oversee cleaning and storage of crockery and equipment; keep kitchen and dining areas orderly.
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
* Culinary Qualifications: City & Guilds 706 1 & 2, or equivalent (achieved or working towards).
* Team Player: Ability to lead a team effectively.
* Food Hygiene: Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
* Communication Skills: Strong communication with Home Manager and kitchen staff.
* Initiative: Ability to work independently and manage kitchen operations.
* Leadership Experience: Previous management or supervisory experience in a kitchen.
Desired Experience
* Specialised Food Preparation: Experience in preparing food for specific needs of the service user group.
* Care Environment Experience: Experience in a care environment is an advantage but not essential.
