NHS Highland is seeking an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to join our dedicated Police Custody and Sexual Assault Response Coordination Service (SARCS). This is a rare opportunity to work at the forefront of forensic medical services, supporting individuals in police care and delivering a high-quality, trauma-informed SARC Service.
About the Role
As an ANP, you will:
* Provide autonomous, expert care to patients referred for forensic medical examination and healthcare in police custody.
* Use advanced clinical judgment to assess, diagnose, treat and review a wide range of complex health conditions.
* Work collaboratively with Police Scotland, the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS), and other agencies.
* Participate in out-of-hours rotas and support trainee ANPs.
This post is subject to a Genuine Occupational Requirement, with a preference for female examiners in line with Healthcare Improvement Scotland standards.
What we’re looking for:
* Registered Nurse (Adult or Mental Health)
* Educated to SCQF Level 11 (MSc or equivalent) with advanced clinical decision-making, examination, and prescribing qualifications
* Experience in managing acute and long-term conditions
* Commitment to forensic medical education (NES programmes)
* Strong leadership, communication, and partnership-building skills
* Willingness to travel across the Highlands as required
