Job summary

The worker will undertake duties in a Ward/Department in either Acute Medical/Surgical Wards, and in Community Hospitals. He/She will carry out a range of assigned tasks involving direct and indirect care for the benefit of the patient/client in accordance with agreed protocols.


Main duties of the job

The worker will be responsible for ensuring that all policies and procedures are observed, and meet Cwm Taf UHB requirements, as well as NMC Standards and Codes of Conduct.

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn't mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. Be responsible for the management of a group of patients, and occaisonally take charge of the ward for the duration of their shift.

Be responsible for maintaining high standards of patient care.

Be responsible for ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to.

Be responsible for the support and supervision of junior staff.

Be responsible for maintaining accurate, current, comprehensive and concise records concerning the condition of the patient in accordance with NMC standards for record keeping, and the UHB's patient record policy.

The Health Board currently operate a number of different shift systems. The most common are a 12.5 hour shift, inclusive of either one 30 minute or two 30-minute unpaid breaks. These shift patterns are subject to review and the Health Board reserves the right to change working arrangements. CTM is a Health Board committed to meaningful consultation with staff and to making balanced decisions that consider all aspects of our service and workforce.
