Employer: Worcestershire County Council / WMJobs

Location: Pershore Civic Centre, Worcester, England, United Kingdom

Job title: Learning Advocate (SEND Specialist)

Team: Worcestershire Virtual School

Salary: £35,495 - £39,001 per annum (already pre-rata'd to match TTO and hours)

Hours: 35 Hours per Week

Contract: Fixed term (until Jul 2027)


Role and responsibilities

* Support a cohort of Worcestershire Children who are Looked After (CLA) to promote high expectations for education and secure positive outcomes.
* Support the early identification of barriers to success and provide guidance to schools to implement targeted interventions at the earliest opportunity, thereby promoting a culture of high aspirations for every CLA.
* Focus on children and young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) to ensure educational needs are met, navigate the SEND system, hold Annual Reviews and secure appropriate educational provision.
* Work with families, colleagues across Education, Social Care and Health to improve educational provision and outcomes for looked-after children.
* Use your own initiative, possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines. Training and support will be provided by a highly regarded team.


Qualifications and requirements

* Ability to use own initiative; excellent interpersonal skills, first-rate organisational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
* Experience or understanding of SEND and EHCP processes (desirable).
* Support will be provided through training and supervision.
