Events Assistant / Administrator who is extremely well organised, with a good understanding of Microsoft Office as well as excellent interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills, is required to join our team at The Army Benevolent Fund (ABF), which is the Army’s national charity supporting soldiers, veterans, and their immediate families in times of need.

This role involves supporting events and engagement for the South West Regional Office, aiding in the delivery of the Charity’s fundraising, communications, and marketing plans.
You will support regional fundraising efforts, develop volunteer fundraising initiatives, and organise regional events as part of the Regional Office team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your duties as the Events Assistant / Administrator include:
Fundraising
* Coordinating and scheduling all regional fundraising events
* Assisting with briefings and representing the Charity at external events such as cheque presentations and volunteer briefings
* Initiating and managing your own regional events with guidance from your RD
* Supporting fundraising events and volunteers, acting as the primary contact for new volunteers
* Distributing fundraising equipment and merchandise as needed
* Staying updated on fundraising best practices
Event Administration
* Responding to enquiries and acting as the main contact for supporters and volunteers
* Providing guidance to supporters and volunteers in the absence of the RD
* Searching for and complying with relevant policies and procedures
* Managing mail and merchandise dispatch in the absence of EA SW
Database Management
* Maintaining and updating constituent data and utilising the charity database effectively
* Using WordPress, Brand Stencil, and other platforms (training provided)
* Advertising events on the charity’s regional webpage
* Communicating with supporters via the database, ensuring timely 'thank you' letters and GDPR compliance
Other duties
* Flexibility for out-of-hours and weekend work with time off in lieu
* Attending the Charity’s Annual Conference and Fundraising Team Conferences (virtual/in-person)
* Assisting with setup and dismantling of fundraising equipment, including gazebos and stands
Candidate Requirements
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Literate and numerate with good office practice experience
* Flexible working patterns
* IT literacy and social media skills (desirable)
* Ability to work independently and within a team
* Understanding of the British Army and charity sector (desirable), empathy with beneficiaries
* Driving licence essential
