The Water Consultancy Division is Mott MacDonald’s centre of excellence for responding to water and wastewater challenges, offering opportunities to get involved in diverse and technically challenging work. Job Description
As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for:
* Developing design solutions and deliverables using geotechnical skills, including foundation, slope, earthwork, and retaining wall design, working alongside structural engineers on complex soil-structure interactions.
* Applying geotechnical expertise in dam and reservoir engineering.
* Managing geotechnical risks through desk studies, site investigations, data management, and ground modelling.
* Supervising junior staff and providing technical guidance.
* Delivering design packages, collaborating with stakeholders, ensuring quality, and traveling to project sites as needed.
* Advancing technical excellence and digital innovation within the team.
* Potential involvement in project management and proposal delivery.
* Expressing your work’s contribution to social outcomes.

Candidate Specification
You will likely have:
* A Masters degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Engineering Geology.
* Chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g., ICE).
* Experience in innovative geotechnical solutions, especially in water sector and dam engineering.
* Proficiency with foundation, slope, and retaining wall design software, numerical modelling, and coding skills.
* Experience in construction site implementation.
* Strong communication, teamwork, and supervision skills.
* Project management experience and technical leadership capabilities.
