Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
The local population served by the Oral & Maxillofacial service approaches 2-million and we currently receive over 10,000 new patient referrals per annum. Elective inpatient operating takes place at Chase Farm Hospital for daycase and short‑stay patients. Acute admissions and trauma are managed at Barnet Hospital. Paediatric day‑case facilities and extended in‑patient stays are managed at Barnet. Royal Free Hospital hosts out‑patients clinic activity. The purpose of this post is to provide, in conjunction with other consultant colleagues, a comprehensive OMFS service. It is a general Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery post with subspecialty interest in skin cancer surgery and trauma surgery. The post involves cross‑site working, with opportunities to join the wider team for educational and training purposes.
Main duties of the job
To provide, in conjunction with other consultant colleagues, a comprehensive OMFS service. This is a general Oral and Maxillofacial surgery post with subspecialty interests in TMJ, trauma and skin cancer surgery. The post involves cross‑site working, with opportunities to join the wider team for educational and training purposes. The post includes a 1:5 on‑call based at Barnet Hospital. The on‑call consultant is supported by first‑ and second‑on call tiers of junior and middle grade surgeons.

* Full GMC and GDC registration
* On specialist register in Maxillofacial Surgery
* Hold CCST in Maxillofacial Surgery or equivalent
* Hold specialty intercollegiate FRCS or equivalent
* A post‑graduate medical degree or equivalent
Experience / Knowledge
* Experience in all aspects of general Oral and Maxillofacial surgery
* Evidence of interest in Head and Neck Trauma
* Skin malignancy management; involvement in multidisciplinary team working
* Experience working in busy clinical settings
* Experience in devising, conducting and participating in audits
* Strong teaching skills and experience
* Experience of teaching at postgraduate level to medical staff
* Experience of training others including non‑medical staff
* Application of current research‑based medicine to clinical care
* An excellent record of research
