We are looking to recruit a Thermal Spray Application Engineering Manager. The role is based at our Newport site, but also working with larger divisional teams that include production, quality and sales in order to support their processes, develop technology and solve complex problems. The role is also responsible for ensuring that applications are maintained, developed and improved in line with customer requirements, accurate procedures are raised and followed, achieving right first time. We want a person who works well in teams, can brainstorm big ideas, brings management qualities to mentor, support and build a strong team capable of leading multiple NPI projects during all stages.
Main responsibilities:
1. To oversee the day to day running of the Engineering Department, including organising and distributing work accordingly
2. To provide engineering / knowhow to support with existing applications, identify & implement productivity cost savings and troubleshoot issue
3. To accept responsibility for the process development of new applications and production parts. (This will involve working closely with customers and sales team from enquiry stage, through to production, and to delivery of components)
4. Ensure that all process documentation is clear accurate and up to date and all supporting documents i.e. specifications / drawings are maintained and registered
5. Aid the quality representative in managing NC/CAR’S to ensure robust actions are in place for application issues
6. In conjunction with the General manager be responsible for setting and maintaining departmental objectives / KPI’S
Qualifications, experience and skills:
7. Experience within the Thermal Spray sector
8. Mechanical Engineering / Material Science (or related discipline) to Degree level or equivalent experience
9. Experience of identifying and implementing productivity/process improvements
10. The ability to interpret complex data, technical drawings and customer specifications
11. Strong Leadership skills complemented by excellent communication skills
12. Hands on approach
13. Good understanding of QMS system, knowledge of aerospace quality systems AS9100 and NADCAP would be an advantage
