The Role
The post holder will lead, develop, co-ordinate and evaluate the technical pharmacy service and support worker roles within the primary care Prescribing Management Team, primarily in the delivery of the pharmacotherapy service across the NHS Lanarkshire North and South Health and Social Care Partnerships (HSCPs) in accordance with the objectives agreed with the Prescribing Management Team.
The post holder will work closely with the Advanced Clinical Services and be responsible for the roll out, development and facilitation of the technical and support elements of the pharmacotherapy service as outlined in the General Medical Services Contract 2018.
The post holder will have responsibility as a professional lead to all technical staff and support workers within the Prescribing Management Team. The post holder will line manage identified pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support workers within a locality
In this key role, you will:
To work with the pharmacotherapy leads to create new innovative ways of working to deliver pharmacotherapy as outlined in the GMS contract
Foster an ethos of innovation and service development
Lead on the recruitment, selection and retention of trainee pharmacy technicians, pharmacy technicians and support staff and oversee the induction process for new staff
Lead on the clear differentiation and expectations of the roles of the various bands of technicians and support workers
To develop the technical service and provide specialist advice on this workforce group to senior colleagues
Establish protocols to ensure safe systems of practices for all technical staff
What You'll Bring:
Registered member of General Pharmaceutical Council
Evidence of continuing professional development and revalidation
NC in Pharmaceutical Sciences
S/NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services
HNC Pharmacy Services Development and Management or equivalent
Pharmacy Dispensing Checking Technician certificate or Pharmacy Aseptic Checking Technician certificate
A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence. delete if not required
From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
