About the role
Every day brings something new. You'll help create routines filled with enjoyment, learning, and emotional support for the children in your care at our brand new therapeutic children's residential home in Harlow, Essex.
Within our children's home we will provide care and support for 3 children of any gender with a diagnosed learning disability and/or emotional behavioural difficulties between the ages of 7 and 17 years.
As Senior Residential Support Worker, you will be a key factor in the smooth running of the home, helping us to deliver high quality care to the children living there. You'll report to the Registered Homes Manager and Deputy Manager and will be responsible for Residential staff and Support staff within the home. You will support the management team to manage the resources of the home to provide a positive living experience for children who are accommodated there.
What we're looking for
Essential:
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent qualification)
* At least 2 years' experience in the past 5 years in a position relevant to the residential care of children
* At least 1 year's experience supervising staff working in a care role
* Experience working with children or in childcare settings
* Knowledge of child development and care planning processes
* Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with children, families, and team members
* Basic IT skills for documentation and reporting purposes
Preferred:
* Valid driving licence with clean driving record
Personal qualities:
* Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in supporting children's growth and wellbeing
* Ability to work flexibly, demonstrating patience, reliability, and organisational skills
Working pattern
Our rota operates over a twenty-four-hour period. You will be included in the rolling rota system where you will cover shifts and will be required to be part of the out-of-hours on-call system. There is also a requirement to carry out sleep-in duties as part of your role, for which an additional payment is given.
