Under the direction of the Head Teacher, the Learning Support Assistant is expected to support the delivery of high-quality primary education and learning, effectively meeting the needs of children.

Happyhansel Primary School is a non-denominational school located in Walls. It provides nursery to P7 education for children from Walls, West Burrafirth, and as far east as West Houlland. The school comprises 1 nursery class and 2 primary classes, with a total of 36 pupils. It is managed by a Head Teacher (joint with Sandness). The current staffing includes 3 teachers and support staff as needed. The current Head Teacher is Mrs. Elizabeth Garrick.

* The grade of this post is D/E.
* Please note that this job is not career graded. Successful candidates will be employed as either a Qualified or Unqualified Learning Support Assistant. During the selection process, candidates will be assessed to meet the person specification criteria for either role, which will determine salary, pay rate, and duties. The Job Profile documents at the end of this advert describe both roles in more detail.
* The pay rate includes Distant Islands Allowance of £1.4808 per hour.
* This is a permanent part-time post for 5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, plus 6.24 weeks (pro rata) paid holiday during school holidays.
* Currently, the hours are on a Tuesday.
* Preferred candidates will need to join or update the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to employment.
* This vacancy does not meet UK visa sponsorship requirements. Only apply if you do not require UK visa sponsorship.
* No relocation package is available.
* Interview expenses will be paid from within Shetland.
