We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Teacher of Music to join our successful and supportive team. This post provides an excellent opportunity for an ECT to develop their career as well as more experienced teachers. The appointed person will be required to teach across KS3, KS4, and all ability ranges. We offer vocational Music courses alongside GCSE Music at KS4. We have a range of departmental initiatives which provide opportunities for the right candidate to cultivate their creative capabilities.

Responsibilities:
1. To teach Music throughout the School in KS3, KS4 and KS5.
2. To develop innovative, traditional, and non-traditional approaches to the Music curriculum to ensure appropriate access and achievement for all students.
3. To teach using a variety of delivery methods which will stimulate learning, meeting the demands of the curriculum and the needs of the students.
4. To assist in the development and deployment of resources as appropriate.
5. To undertake appropriate preparation, studies, and training as necessary for the effective delivery of the curriculum expectations.
6. To plan and prepare courses and lessons.
7. To assess, record and report on the attainment, attendance and progress of students keeping such records as required.
8. To monitor and record student progress according to the school’s assessment policy.
9. To maintain discipline in accordance with the school’s procedures and encourage good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour and standards of work.
10. To set, mark and record homework according to the homework timetable.
11. To assess students’ work in line with School policies and procedures referring to student performance targets.
12. To provide pastoral support to students with special educational needs.
13. To run intervention or extra-curricular sessions if required.
14. To contribute to School Concerts and Musicals.
15. To teach some lessons in our primary school within the MAT if required.
Experience:
16. To understand the requirements of the National Curriculum for Music
17. To have teaching experience in a culturally diverse secondary school
18. To have experience of working with mixed ability students
Qualifications and Training:
19. To have a Degree in a relevant subject
20. To be a qualified Teacher of Music (PGCE or equivalent) or training for QTS
Knowledge / Skills:
21. To be aware of the requirements for the National Curriculum
22. To have a have excellent literacy skills, including proficiency in accurate written and spoken English
23. To have good numeracy skills (e.g. GCSE Mathematics)
24. To have excellent communication skills (both oral and in writing) – the ability to make points clearly and confidently, providing information and advice in accurate spoken English, and able to understand the views of others
