CNC Turning Machine Operator

Salary: up to £20 per hour
Role Overview
An established engineering and production business is seeking a CNC Turning Machine Operator to support the setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC lathes. This hands‑on, precision‑focused role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
* Set up CNC turning machines (lathes), including installing tools, fixtures, and materials
* Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
* Operate CNC machines to manufacture components within tolerance limits
* Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as required
* Carry out routine inspections using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
* Ensure all finished parts meet quality and accuracy standards
* Troubleshoot minor machine issues and report major faults
* Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant working environment
* Follow all health & safety procedures and company operating standards
Essential Skills & Experience
* Basic understanding of CNC machining and turning processes
* Ability to read and follow engineering drawings and schematics
* Familiarity with G‑code (desirable)
* Competence using measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and torque wrenches
* Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving ability
* Good manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
