Job Overview Head of PSHE Salary: MPS/UPS (£32,916-£51,048 per annum) Location: The Suthers School Contract Details: Permanent, Full Time The Suthers School is seeking to appoint a passionate and visionary Head of PSHE to lead the development and delivery of a creative and inspirational PSHE programme across Key Stages 3 and 4. This is a unique opportunity to shape the character education of our students in a school that values compassion, ambition, and a love of learning. Your Main Responsibilities Within This Role Will Be Lead and continually review the PSHE curriculum to ensure it remains current, relevant, and aligned with statutory and local needs. Advise, guide, and support both specialist and non-specialist PSHE teachers. Develop and update teaching resources and lesson plans across both key stages. Collaborate with form tutors to ensure effective delivery of the tutor programme. Monitor student progress and implement intervention strategies where needed. Plan and deliver themed learning days on Health and Wellbeing, Relationships, and Living in the Wider World. Maintain strong partnerships with local businesses and organisations. Update and develop policies related to PSHE, RSE, and curriculum changes. Represent the school at the PSHE Association Annual Conference and use its guidance to inform teaching practice. Manage the department’s budget and contribute to the school newsletter. Liaise with the Head of IT on e-safety curriculum and work closely with the Personal Development lead. Desirable (Careers Leader) Level 6 Careers Leader qualification. Experience with Compass evaluations and Gatsby Benchmarks. Ability to deliver high-quality careers guidance, including 1:1 sessions, assemblies, and workshops. Familiarity with Unifrog (training available).
