Holly Lodge School is seeking to appoint a Leader of Learning for Physical Education. We are a comprehensive 11‑19 school and sixth form serving the diverse community of Smethwick, West Midlands. Physical Education plays a vital role in realizing this vision. The PE department is built on strong foundations, with a motivated and committed team who are ambitious for the next phase of development. We are looking for strategic and inspirational leadership to support a carefully planned, subject‑specialist curriculum, research‑informed teaching approaches, high expectations, and high‑quality pastoral care that improve outcomes both inside and beyond the classroom.
A particular strength of the department is our developing Basketball Academy, led by a dedicated coach and supported by strong community partnerships. This provides an exciting platform to enhance student engagement, participation and pathways into competitive sport and leadership opportunities.
In this role you will be a visionary Leader of Learning, building on existing strengths to shape a coherent, ambitious PE provision. The successful candidate will drive improvements in teaching and learning, secure strong outcomes for all students, and develop an extended and competitive programme that promotes belonging, excellence and aspiration. There is significant scope to grow enrichment opportunities, competitive sport, and community engagement, ensuring PE contributes powerfully to the whole‑school culture.
