Role Overview
Join us as a Technical Product Owner – UI/UX Strategy. The role is fundamental to executing XDP's defined UI strategy and transforming it into a cohesive, bank-wide design system foundation.
Key Responsibilities
* Translate strategy into technical roadmap.
* Design component architecture.
* Drive adoption strategy.
* Govern design consistency.
* Provide subject‑matter expertise to support collaboration between product owners and technical teams.
* Support development and implementation of product strategy and vision.
* Gather and prioritise product requirements based on business value and feasibility.
* Develop and implement assessments to ensure continuous product quality and performance.
* Monitor product performance to identify optimisation opportunities.
* Stay abreast of industry technology trends and adopt new approaches to improve product development and delivery.
Leadership and Strategic Expectations
* Contribute to strategy, drive requirements, and make recommendations for change.
* Plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage and maintain processes; deliver continuous improvements.
* Provide guidance and coaching to team members; influence operations and align with strategic priorities.
* Advise stakeholders and senior management on functional and cross‑functional impact.
* Manage and mitigate risks through assessment and governance.
Qualifications and Skills
* Design System Product Management – track record of owning the roadmap for a design system, component library, or developer platform; prioritize across stack; present investment cases to senior leadership.
* Technical Fluency in Modern Frontend Architecture – working knowledge of component‑driven development (React, Tailwind, headless patterns); understand theming, schemas, API‑first design; write sharp acceptance criteria.
* Cross‑Functional Stakeholder Management and Adoption – drive adoption of internal platform products; gather requirements; negotiate scope; manage governance; run enablement programmes.
* Accessibility Standards and Compliance Knowledge – familiarity with WCAG 2.2 AA; embed compliance into design system; advocate accessibility as product priority.
* AI/LLM Product Experience (Generative UI, Prompt‑to‑Code) – shape product requirements for AI‑assisted developer tools; write user stories with guard rails.
* Figma and Design Tooling Workflow – understand design‑to‑code hand‑offs; spot friction; define requirements to keep design and implementation aligned.
Location
Glasgow or Knutsford.
