Job overview
We wish to appoint a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, with an interest in General Oral, Maxillofacial Surgery and Trauma, with a subspecialty interest in Skin Cancer management.
You will undertake their clinical commitments across Bay at the three sites.
You will take part in the consultant on call rota. It is envisaged that the post holder will develop a subspecialty interest to complement those of the existing consultants
Main duties of the job
You would participate in a general consultant on call rota, with a commitment to undertake a weekend morning trauma list during your on‑call weekend. This on call rota is a 1:4 when this vacancy is filled.
There are close working relationships with our ENT colleagues in the MDT Head and Neck cancer service, as well as the Clinical Nurse Specialists who link up exceptionally well with the Regional Head and Neck Cancer Centre at Royal Preston Hospital (Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust)
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals‑Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Person specification
* MBChB or equivalent BDS or equivalen
* Full registration with GMC +/- GDC
* CCST or equivalent/ Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery FRCS (OMFS)
* Entry on Specialist register (or expected within 6/12
* Research experience
* Recognised as medical educator
* Surgical prize

* Formal teaching qualification
Training
