Overview
The Home Office is seeking to recruit a high calibre individual to be the next Chair of the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to take up the post in early 2026. The SIA provides regulation of certain private security activities and licensing for more than 450,000 individuals, and operates the voluntary approved Contractor Scheme for security businesses. The SIA is the independent regulator named for Martyn’s Law when this duty comes into effect in 2027.
The SIA is a high-performing Non-Departmental Public Body working with the Home Office and devolved administrations. The Board is focused on outcomes that support government priorities of keeping the UK safer from terrorism and reducing violence. This is an exciting time of change as the SIA prepares for Martyn’s Law and enhances its compliance and enforcement activities, influencing the supervision and quality of service provided by private security companies. The Chair will provide strategic direction and governance as the organisation evolves into its next phase as a UK-wide regulator.
