Trust Doctor in Acute Medicine – 12‑Month Fixed Term (Starting August 2026)
Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust
Are you looking to build strong, hands‑on experience in acute care within a friendly, supportive, and fast‑paced environment? Our Acute Medicine team is excited to offer a fantastic 12‑month Trust Doctor post, perfect for someone eager to develop their skills and confidence in managing acutely unwell patients.
At The RUH, Acute Medicine Is At The Heart Of Our Integrated Front Door. You’ll Be Part Of a Dynamic Service That Includes
* 25‑bedded Medical Assessment Unit (MAU)
* A newly refurbished Medical Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit with 13 trolleys and 42 chair spaces
* 18‑bedded Medical Short Stay Ward
You’ll work alongside an experienced and supportive team, with day‑to‑day consultant supervision. The department includes 13 SHOs/F2s and 3 F1s, forming a well‑structured workforce that manages the acute take Monday–Friday and provides overnight ward cover with support from ward‑based medical teams.
How We Work
* Emergency admissions between 8am and 5pm are managed by our Acute Physicians.
* Out‑of‑hours admissions are supported by 24 General Medical Consultants, including Acute Physicians.
* Frail elderly patients receive specialist input from our Frailty Flying Squad, MNPs, and Care of the Elderly Consultants.
* The on‑take Specialist Registrar leads the integrated take, working closely with the Acute Medicine team.
You’ll work a full shift pattern, gaining experience across the medical take and ward environments, with excellent opportunities to learn from a broad multidisciplinary team.
If you’re enthusiastic, motivated, and ready to take the next step in your medical career, we’d love you to join us.
At the RUH we’re proud to put people at the heart of what we do, working together as one team to make a difference for our patients, each other, and our community. No matter what your role is, we value everyone’s contribution in supporting the exceptional, person‑centred care we pride ourselves on.
