From 1 December 2025 the pay range for this role will be £31,537 – £36,363 Band 7 (pro rata for part time colleagues). We are seeking a dedicated Deputy Nursery Manager to join our Early Years and Family Hubs team. You will play a vital role in providing a high-quality, inclusive learning environment and will lead the nursery in the absence of the manager. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage nursery operations when the manager is absent, ensuring a safe, caring, and stimulating environment. Act as the named Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO), embedding high-quality inclusive practice and adhering to the SEND code of practice. Champion equality, diversity, and inclusive practice across the nursery. Support and coach staff to identify and address children’s additional needs at the earliest opportunity. Build strong partnerships with parents/carers and professionals, handling sensitive issues diplomatically. Track children’s development and use data to inform improvements. Contribute to policy development and ensure staff compliance. Act as a Keyperson when required, role-modelling high-quality teaching and learning. Maintain records and confidentiality. Participate in staff meetings and training, celebrating team success. Comply with all relevant statutory requirements, including the Equality Act, Health and Safety at Work Act, and Data Protection Act. Qualifications & Experience Minimum 3 A levels or equivalent experience. Minimum NVQ Level 4 qualification (or equivalent) in Early Years/Childcare. Current Level 3 safeguarding training. Personal Qualities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Calm, professional approach with the ability to resolve conflict and problems independently. Able to advise, coach, mentor, and motivate others. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to build positive working partnerships with colleagues and agencies. Requirements Enhanced and Barring DBS check. Ability to travel (public transport or valid UK driving licence with access to own/pool car). Willingness to work occasional evenings and Saturdays.
