Advert ENTERPRISE AND RESOURCES Marine Services and Transportation Airfields Officer 35 Hours per week Permanent £34,458 - £37,123 pro rata / £18.88 - £20.34 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance) Applications are invited from self-motivated individuals to support the Airfields Superintendent in planning, organising and delivering all firefighting and operational training for all staff across the six North Isles airfields. You’ll travel monthly by aircraft to each airport to engage teams and deliver a full programme of practical and theory-based Rescue and Firefighting Service (RFFS) training. This includes planning and delivering realistic hot fire training at Kirkwall, isles-based drills (dry, wet and timed runs), driving and ground operations, fire pump operation, first aid, and appliance familiarity. You’ll oversee training for new starters, manage recurring first aid qualifications, and deliver airfield driver training covering off-road driving, runway safety and radio procedures. You’ll also plan and support annual and multi-year multi-agency emergency exercises. The role includes monitoring and inspecting critical RFFS equipment, PPE, appliances and media (foam, extinguishers), conducting perimeter walks, and ensuring full operational readiness. You’ll promote the Safety Management System and Just Culture, support investigations into reportable occurrences, and ensure compliance with regulations CAP 168 and CAP 699. You must hold a Qualification to a minimum National Certificate, Foundation Apprenticeship, Advanced higher, Scottish Baccalaureate, HNC, Certificate of Higher Education to enable entrance to training programmes required by the CAA to demonstrate competency. Already hold or gain an SQF Level 6 qualification in Planning and Delivering Training Sessions to Groups to become an accredited First Aid at Worker trainer. A key responsibility is maintaining accurate electronic training records for all RFFS personnel. This is a hands-on, safety-critical role for someone passionate about training excellence, operational assurance and teamwork in a unique aviation environment. It is essential to have a full current UK driving licence This post is subject to Level 1 Disclosure Scotland clearance.
