The Role

Responsible for the delivery of high quality fire safety advice, meeting the needs of the NHS and other Salus customers:

* Advising the NHS senior management on fire safety issues.
* Liaising with architects, consultants, the Health and Safety Executive, Fire Brigade and local government Building Officers on matters relating to fire precautions.
* Ensuring that the Fire Brigade, Local Authority, etc. is informed of any work that may affect the fire safety of any building within the NHS Lanarkshire estate.
* Assisting with the application for Fire Certificates, and alterations to these certificates and ensure compliance with fire safety notices.
* In particular, providing advice and assistance to the Independent Contractors, and line management and staff in NHS Lanarkshire.
* Assisting with the development, implementation and delivery of fire safety training resources as required.
* Liaising with other professionals to establish Fire Risk Management techniques as an approach to Health and Safety within NHS Lanarkshire and other organisations, as required.

What we’ll need you to bring


Knowledge and Experience

* Must have at least three years experience to ensure is “competent person” with theoretical knowledge of a range of work procedures, including current fire legislation, which will require to be enhanced by commitment by continuing professional development.
* Must have knowledge of fire related activities acquired in clinical and non-clinical practices, in both Primary Care and Acute settings.


Analytical and Judgement Skills

* Judgements involving complex facts or situations, which require the analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options.
* Assists the Area Fire Safety Advisor in the resolving of organisational issues in relation to interpretation and compliance with relevant fire safety legislation, in an organisation, which is very complex, and where interpretation and implications are routinely analysed.


Planning and Organisational Skills

* Assists the Area Fire Safety Advisor in the formulating long term, strategic fire safety plans, which may involve uncertainty and which will impact across the whole organisation.


Physical Skills

* Requires physical skills, which are normally obtained through practice over a period of time or during practical training (e.g. standard driving or keyboard skills).

Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.


It would be great if you also have

* Fire Safety Modules A to E or other accredited Fire Safety Qualification.
* Competent Fire Risk Assessor.
* Fire Engineering or other maths based degree
* Membership of an appropriate Professional Body

Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Fire Team department within Kirklands - NHSL Headquarters.

The working pattern for this role: Monday to Thursday 9-5, Friday 9-4.30
