Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and versatile Facilities Assistant to help maintain the castle's impressive aesthetic and perform a range of general maintenance tasks. A key part of this role is supporting the setup and smooth running of events across the venue. The ideal candidate will be proactive, hands-on, and detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively. A friendly and professional manner is essential, particularly when assisting visitors and guests.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Upkeep
* Carry out routine inspections to identify and address damage, wear, or imperfections.
* Maintain the professional appearance of the castle, with a particular focus on painting and decorating.
* Perform general repairs (e.g., walls, doors, windows, lighting, plumbing).
* Assist with larger projects, refurbishments, and installations.
* Conduct daily opening and closing procedures, including unlocking and securing all external doors.
* Monitor, maintain, and ensure safe use of tools and equipment.
Event Support
* Assist with the setup and dismantling of furniture and equipment for events.
* Provide hands-on support during events, including last-minute layout changes.
* Conduct regular checks to ensure health and safety standards are maintained.
* Support seasonal needs, such as snow clearance and de-icing in winter.
* Work some weekend shifts to support event operations.
Requirements
* Practical knowledge of basic maintenance and repair work.
* Ability to safely operate and maintain tools and equipment.
* Strong attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
* Good time management and task prioritisation skills.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
* Physically able to undertake manual handling, including lifting and moving equipment.
* Willingness to work flexibly, including weekend shifts.
