An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a forward-thinking, family-run farming business. Based on a mixed farm in Shropshire, this hands-on role centres around supporting the daily operations of a 250kW anaerobic digestion (AD) plant as well as undertaking tractor driving responsibilities.
About the Role:
You'll be responsible for day-to-day tasks at the AD plant, including feeding the system using a telehandler, monitoring performance, recording data, and performing routine maintenance.
The role also includes seasonal and ongoing work in the arable enterprise over almost 1000 acres of cereals, renewable and grassland. You'll undertake cultivations, digestate spreading, and trailer work during harvest. There's opportunity to undertake and learn in other areas such as spraying, drilling etc.
No prior experience with AD plants is required and full training can be provided to the right candidate, however would be preferable.
Previous experience in agriculture or a relevant industrial/engineering setting, and a good practical understanding of machinery, would be advantageous.
This is a varied and rewarding position with the opportunity to work as part of a small, motivated team on a farm that balances commercial ambition with a strong sense of family and community.
Key Responsibilities:
* Daily operation and monitoring of the AD plant
* Feeding the plant using a JCB telehandler
* Routine maintenance and keeping the site clean and functional
* Support with wider arable operations throughout the year
* Weekend and call-out duties on a flexible rota
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Minimum 1 year of experience in a relevant operational or agricultural role
* Basic mechanical and engineering aptitude
* A practical, thorough, and observant approach to work
* Basic IT skills (Excel/Word) and numeracy
* The ability to work independently and within a team
* A full UK driving licence (telehandler ticket desirable but not essential)
