Responsibilities
This is an exciting & dynamic technical role essential to Manufacture, Assembly, Integration and Test of flight hardware. You will be supporting the definition of the standard processes for composite panels, spacecraft structures, propulsion and payloads, and provide ownership, measurement and improvement of manufacturing processes essential to delivering spacecraft on time, on cost and on quality.
What you will be doing:
* Introduction of manufacturing best practice/standardization into design
* Creation of build documentation
* Improvement of existing processes
* Innovation and bringing ideas to life
During the 1st year of the apprenticeship, you will attend a week of Team Building Activities and Exercises at one of the Outward‑Bound UK Sites.
Requirements
* Minimum of 120 UCAS points made up of 3 A levels at grade B or above, which must include Maths, Physics or an Engineering based subject, plus another subject other than General Studies and Critical Thinking
* Or BTEC L3 Extended Diploma in Engineering with a minimum grade DDM, which must include a Merit in Further Mathematics or Access Course Tariff – 30 Level 3 credits at Distinction including Maths or Science or principles units, with the remaining 15 L3 credits at merit and GCSE grade C/4 or above in Maths and English
* Knowledge and understanding: Commitment to continue personal development, refreshing and expanding engineering knowledge through a variety of methods
* Design and development of processes, systems, services and products: Contributing to the continuing development of engineering within your domain
* Responsibility and management skills: Taking personal responsibility for their actions, managing projects
* Communication and inter‑personal skills: Be able to demonstrate a range of communication styles and methods; Understanding the importance of networks within and across functions
* Professional commitment: Demonstrating a personal and professional commitment to society, their profession and the environment, adopting a set of values and behaviours that will maintain and enhance the reputation of the profession
* Natural problem solver with a hands‑on approach and a passion for making things better, faster, leaner and smarter
* Ability to get stuck in and affect change; thrive in a fast‑paced environment where challenges are opportunities
* Aptitude for mechanical engineering, building & assembling parts/products and innovation (AI, Machine learning, robotics, 3D printing)
