Overview
Principal/Senior or Experienced HV Plant Design Engineer (Substation Design) – Stantec, Northampton, England, United Kingdom. This role sits within our Energy team and offers the opportunity to contribute to the UK energy transition through a variety of substation design projects.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of the HV team for electrical substation design projects, supporting and leading FEED design and detailed design for substation refurbishment, extensions and new-build projects; experience with UK T&D clients is advantageous.
* Collaborate with other disciplines to deliver FEED and detailed design for substations and related schemes.
* Engage with clients across the country on HV projects, including HVDC, interconnectors, windfarms, substations, OHL, and protection systems; involvement may include building design, LVAC, FEED and refurbishment works.
* Join a growing, collaborative energy team focused on innovative and sustainable solutions to industry-wide efficiency and environmental challenges; participate in the UK energy transition.
* Contribute to development opportunities within the team as the energy sector grows.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
* Experience as HV Substation / Primary Plant Design Engineer.
* Experience in design and specification production for HV substation plant electrical power systems and components.
* Understanding of protection and control (P&C) aspects is preferable.
* Proactive with knowledge of the electricity transmission and distribution industry; able to coach and work within the energy team.
* Willingness to learn and adapt; Stantec supports development and training for the right people.
