The Role


Overview

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our exceptional, outward looking, oversubscribed high achieving school which welcomes pupils of all abilities. St James’s is a member of the Bishop Fraser Trust, a C of E Multi Academy Trust established in 2017. This is an exciting time to join us as it provides a great opportunity to work closely with the other three schools in the MAT: Bury C of E High School, Canon Slade School and Bolton St Catherine’s Academy; sharing good practice and building on our ongoing progress.

Hours per Week: 27.50

Weeks per Year: 52.143

Salary: £31,650 – £49,084 (MPS T1 – T9)

Your Requirements

* Has a sound and developed knowledge of your subject and of its examination specifications.
* Has the ability and/or experience to teach RE at KS3 and KS4.
* Can create and maintain a disciplined and stimulating environment in which all students are well motivated and learn.
* Promotes the appreciation, understanding and enjoyment of your subject, being passionate about teaching it well.
* Monitors students’ progress and create opportunities for all students to reach their full potential.
* Establishes good working relationships with students and colleagues and with the wider school community.
* Makes excellent and inventive use of available resources to assist in teaching and learning.
* Follows departmental schemes of work and assessments in planning work with each group.
* Completes regular assessments of students' work, providing them with feedback which allows them to make progress.
* Contributes to the production of resources.
* Attends and contributes to departmental meetings and contribute to departmental policies and developments.
* Attends evening meetings as required, including with parents.
* Keeps up to date records.
* Contributes to the production of examination papers and marking them when appropriate.
* Ensures that the requirements of external examinations are met.
* Ensures that the Teachers’ Standards are met or exceeded in all your work.


Your Responsibilities

* To provide and deliver engaging lessons at both KS3 and KS4.
* To raise standards across the subject in Teaching and Learning and Curriculum leading to better outcomes for all.
* To contribute more widely to the well-being of our pupils, through being a form tutor, undertaking duties, and being a role model for them for their learning and their conduct.
* Participate in departmental meetings, parent evenings, training sessions, and contribute to whole-school initiatives and improvement plans.
