York Learning, the City of York Council’s dedicated community and adult education training and skills provider, is looking for their next Operations Manager following the promotion of the previous post holder within York Learning.
The Operations Manager is a fast paced role where you manage our front line staff dealing with enrolments, finance, venues coordination and so much more across multiple sites. No two days are the same! You need to be able to be both proactive and reactive, you must have experience of managing staff and ideally operations experience either inside or outside an educational establishment.
You must either be IOSH qualified or prepared to work towards an IOSH qualification and have experience of Health and Safety guidelines and legislation. You are interested in supporting our learners to florish and achieve, you have a keen eye for detail and systems and you are able to both lead from the front and delegate appropriately. Working under the guidance and direction of the York Learning senior managmeent team you will be responsible for putting into practice policies and procedures as well as looking for opportunities to innovate and improve our service.
You will have direct line management responsibility as well as indirect line management responsibility for wider operations teams including our exams team. We’re expanding what we do and continuing to make a difference to the people of York. Join us on that journey!

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express themselves spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.
Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
