About the Role
Specialist role within the Duty and Assessment Team, responsible for completing statutory assessments of need for children with disabilities, parent/carer assessments, and the review of care packages and direct payment reviews.
Responsibilities
* Undertake statutory needs assessments for children with disabilities.
* Complete parent/carer assessments.
* Review and monitor direct payment packages and care packages.
* Manage a varied caseload, ensuring the best outcomes for children and young people.
* Work collaboratively with families, carers, and partner agencies to provide the right support at the right time.
* Participate in the team’s duty rota and contribute to the development of social work students.
* Play a key role in safeguarding children, promoting their welfare, and ensuring their voices are heard throughout the assessment and planning process.
Qualifications
* Qualified Social Worker (CQSW, DipSW, Degree in Social Work, or equivalent).
* Registered with Social Work England.
* At least 3 years post‑qualification experience working with children with disabilities and their families.
* Strong assessment, communication, and partnership working skills.
* Commitment to equality, diversity, and continuous professional development.
* Ability to travel across Lancashire (essential car user post).
