A little more about your role… This an opportunity to register your interest in working with WSP for our Local Government Highways and Bridges team based in Exeter, Devon. We provide highways design and consultancy services for local authority clients within the South-West region. We are passionate about supporting our Local Authority clients to deliver improvements for local communities, prioritising Active and Healthy Travel modes and caring about the provision of mobility across the transport network. Some examples of recent projects include: Delivering Highway Capacity and Safety Improvements such as at the A379 Devon Hotel Roundabout. Bus Service Improvement works such as the provision of a new Bus Lane on New North Road to provide a quicker route for Buses into the city centre. Pinhoe Railway (Monkerton) Bridge Strengthening - supporting our Client to manage the structure by keeping it open for all traffic, including abnormal loads, by using digital remote monitoring while we work collaboratively with our Client to deliver a strengthening solution. If you have experience from the Highways or related Infrastructure sectors in any of the below areas, please register your interest and we can talk through how your expertise aligns to opportunities at WSP. We are open to talking about both full-time and part-time opportunities within our team. Highways Engineering: providing highways design and consultancy services across a wide variety of projects - taking projects from inception to construction. Structural / Bridge Engineering: designing new and replacement bridges and other highways-related structures, as well as opportunities for bridge inspection and assessment Quantity Surveying – play a pivotal role in supporting pre- and post-contract commercial aspects of projects across a wide range of sizes and complexities Clerk of Works – act as Clerk of Works across a range of projects across the highways sector – a varied role requiring commitment to working onsite and working What we will be looking for you to demonstrate… A range of project experience, most likely focused on highway, traffic and civil engineering projects. A proven ability to act in client facing roles and maintain good client relationships. Proven working knowledge of key UK highways design guidance such as the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Manual for Streets and Traffic Signs Manuals. Strong numerical and analytical skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence in engaging with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues. A passion for innovation and development – whether that be your own development or the mentoring of other team members. Commitment to health, safety and welfare of yourself and team members.
