We are delighted to be working exclusively with a global food machinery manufacturer to support with their search for a Field Service Engineer.
Role Summary
You'll deliver both reactive and planned maintenance across a variety of food processing machines-peelers, extractors, conveyors, sorters, packers, etc. You'll also support with new installations, commissioning, fault-finding, and customer training, aiming to maximise uptime and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Perform planned preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns on food processing equipment. Ensure timely and effective repairs
Train client staff on safe, efficient operation
Diagnose and fix faults in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, including PLC and control diagnostics
Maintain accurate documentation of service visits, job reports, and maintenance logs using CMMS or equivalent systems
Provide technical guidance, operator training, and best‑practice advice to site staff for improved yield and reduced downtime
Liaise with internal teams (sales, R&D, workshop engineering) to escalate product issues and feed insights into continuous improvement effortsTechnical Skills & Qualifications
Qualified in electrical and/or mechanical engineering (NVQ, City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent)
Hands‑on experience servicing machinery in food or FMCG environments, especially on food processing lines
Strong fault‑finding across multi‑disciplinary systems (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic), with PLC and control system familiarity preferred
Understanding of food‑safety standards (e.g. HACCP, CIP cleaning), stainless‑steel environments, and sanitary processing regimes
Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively with occasional overnight staysSoft Skills & Attributes
Excellent communication and customer service skills, able to explain technical issues clearly to operators and management
Self‑motivated, organised, adaptable and capable of managing multiple service calls independently across varying client sites
Strong problem‑solver, proactive and detail‑oriented with a strong commitment to health, safety, and quality standards
Willing to engage in continuous learning-keeping up to date with newer machinery, control systems, and industry best practiceRemuneration & Benefits
