Senior Electrical Engineer - Building Services
Birmingham
I'm currently working with a well-established, design-led building services consultancy that is entering an exciting period of growth in their Birmingham office. With a strong national reputation and a healthy pipeline of secured work, they have ambitious plans to double the headcount of the Birmingham team within the next 12 months, making this a particularly compelling time to join.
They are looking to appoint a Senior Electrical Engineer who can play a key role in supporting the local leadership team while helping shape and influence the next phase of growth.
This is a genuine opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership - technically strong, confident in front of clients, and comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will:
* Lead and deliver robust electrical design solutions across a range of projects
* Undertake full systems design including calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings
* Provide high-quality technical advice directly to clients
* Act as a key point of contact in meetings, representing the business externally
* Support and mentor junior engineers and technicians
* Take responsibility for managing project delivery to time and budget
* Review and quality-check work produced by others
* Contribute to maintaining high technical standards across the team
You will also play an important role in project risk assessments, CDM compliance, and ensuring all work aligns with ISO and quality management procedures.
Given the scale of planned growth in Birmingham, this role offers clear scope to develop into a leadership position as the team expands.
What They're Looking For
They are seeking someone with:
* A BEng (Hons) in Electrical or Building Services Engineering (HNC/HND minimum considered)
* Chartered status, or actively working towards chartership with either CIBSE or Institution of Engineering and Technology
* Strong technical capability in electrical design software such as Amtech, Relux and Dialux
* AutoCAD proficiency and a working knowledge of Revit
* Experience undertaking surveys and spatial coordination of plant areas
* Excellent communication skills and the confidence to liaise with clients and multidisciplinary teams
