Join Anglian Water's Strategic Pipeline Alliance as a Senior Soil Scientist. The Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) is searching for a Senior Soil Scientist to support and enhance our project delivery team. What will you be doing as our new Senior Soil Scientist. You will be reporting the SPA Land Quality Discipline Lead forming part of a wider land quality and agricultural team. The role will include assisting with the design, completion and reporting of Agricultural Land Classification (ALC) surveys, as well as potentially inputting to and producing Geology and Soils EIA documents, Soil Management Plans and stakeholder/regulator liaison. Successful delivery of the role will require you to work collaboratively alongside your immediate team members and the wider SPA team to ensure that quality and consistency are maintained. Key responsibilities: You will be independently undertaking ALC surveys meeting the minimum competencies set out in Document 1 (foundation skills) and Document 2 (ALC) of Working with Soil – Professional Competency in Soil Science (British Society of Soil Science). Produce soil quality and agricultural documents for consent applications Contribute to the development of a standardised approach to produce land quality and agricultural (including digital) outputs. Work with the Land Quality Discipline Lead and other team members to ensure that programme meets SPA milestones A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours: This job might be for you if you have: Demonstrable experience of undertaking ALC surveys and meet the minimum competencies set out in Document 1 (foundation skills) and Document 2 (ALC) of Working with Soil – Professional Competency in Soil Science. Previous experience producing Soil Management Plans would be desirable A proactive communicator who will contribute to stakeholder engagement with 3rd party interfaces to ensure the SPA Framework consenting teams have the best opportunity for gaining approvals in a timely and cost-effective manner The ability to take personal responsibility for supporting programme delivery, particularly in the areas of adopting risk-based approaches, cost control and programme management. The ability to work flexibly across several projects and to meet required deadlines. Experience of using QGIS/ArcGIS would also be an advantage.
