A quick look at the role.
The Lead Multi Skilled Operator (MSO) plays a pivotal role in the safe, seamless and efficient operation of heavy plant, machinery, and vehicles within the MBT plant. As a Lead MSO you will be responsible for operating and maintaining heavy machinery used in the processing, handling, and transportation of waste materials. You will supervise and lead a team of multi skilled operators and drivers, organising the day to day tasks and ensuring adherence to safety and environmental regulations

* Promote, monitor, and improve the safety culture (reducing incidents and accidents).
* Challenge unsafe behaviour and promote safety standards.
* Develop and deliver safety briefings and toolbox talks to team members.
* Perform daily equipment checks.
* Ensure that all heavy plant and vehicles are properly maintained and serviced to prevent breakdowns and downtime.
* Collaborate with other departments, such as operations and maintenance, to ensure smooth and efficient plant operations.
* Supervise and lead a team of multi skilled operatives and drivers, providing guidance, support, and training as needed. Monitoring quality and quantity of work. Recognising positive behaviours but also addressing and supervising where shortfalls are observed.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance .
* Produce standard operating procedures and / or work instructions to suit specific tasks.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards.
* First line management responsibilities, including but not limited to – managing shift rota, return to work interviews, and recruitment of multi skilled operators and drivers.
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the maintenance department.
* Contractor management, including reviewing Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS), writing permits, and managing on site activities.
* Manage the movement and storage of waste within the MBT plant ensuring compliance with the site permit conditions.
* Assist in the implementation of new processes and technologies to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
Requirements
Here’s what we require:
* 360 + Loading Shovel license.
* Telehandler license.
* Forklift license.
* Full UK driving license.
* Highly numerate and literate, both in verbal and written forms.
* IT literate – comfortable using business software and systems.
* Can deal with conflict and negotiate desired outcomes.
* Analytical and has techniques for identifying and solving problems.
Desirable:
* LGV license
* 3-years Process industry experience in an operational management role.
* 3-years management of Environmental, Health and Safety, aspects of a Process Operation.
* Experience in Anaerobic Digestion processes.
