SMT Team Lead – Motorsport Electronics
📍 Surrey, UK | Full-Time | On-Site - Circa £40,000
Are you an experienced SMT Team Lead ready to step into a high-performance motorsport electronics environment?
We’re hiring a hands-on Surface Mount Technology Team Leader to manage a small team of skilled technicians producing complex, high-value electronic assemblies for motorsport and high-end automotive applications.
Working in a brand-new, purpose-built manufacturing facility designed to support future growth and showcase advanced electronics capability.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Leading and developing a team of 3 SMT technicians
* Programming and operating ASM SX pick & place machines
* Running 3D AOI, Selective Soldering, X-Ray & Conformal Coating equipment
* Supporting NPI with DFM, DFA & DFT input
* Contributing to Process FMEA and continuous improvement
* Managing planning inputs, resource allocation & preventative maintenance
* Driving IPC Class 3 standards and ISO9001 compliance
* Ensuring on-time, right-first-time delivery in a zero-defect environment
Overtime may be required during peak project periods.
What We’re Looking For
* Strong background in low-volume, high-complexity SMT manufacturing
* Proven pick & place programming experience
* In-depth knowledge of IPC Class 3 standards
* Experience within motorsport, automotive, aerospace or similar high-tech sectors
* Confident team leader with strong mentoring skills
* Detail-focused with a passion for quality and reliability
