An exciting opportunity has arisen for individuals to undertake the role of Public Enquiry Officer based in East Kent. The role is available on a full‑time basis in Folkestone and on a part‑time basis in Margate, with a rotating 4‑week schedule covering other stations. The working hours are 0900‑1700, with occasional weekend duties and possible travel outside the division.
Responsibilities
* Deal with a wide variety of enquiries from members of the public, colleagues and partner agencies.
* Take relevant and detailed reports for further investigation and disseminate to appropriate departments or agencies.
* Collect accurate and detailed crime reports, both recent and historic.
* Manage bail signers and signpost queries to the correct agencies.
* Handle post and deliveries for the station.
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience working with the public, including in pressurised situations.
* Ability to treat people with dignity and respect, regardless of circumstances.
* Strong personal responsibility for delivering high‑standard service to the public.
* Independent decision‑making and multitasking skills, inspiring confidence in the public.
* Effective teamwork within the Public Enquiry Department and wider Kent Police.
* Knowledge and experience of customer service delivery and following policy and protocols.
* Adaptability to continuous change and shifting expectations.
* Keyboard skills and proficiency with computer systems; training provided for unfamiliar databases.
* Desirable: familiarity with Police systems such as STORM, Athena and PNC.
* UK resident with continuous living in the UK for the last three years.
