Welsh Teacher (part-time)
Hours: 8 hours per week (negotiable/flexible schedule)
Job Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and adaptable Welsh Teacher to join our independent school in Wales. The successful candidate will deliver engaging Welsh language lessons to pupils aged 8–16.
Teaching will take place primarily in small groups or 1:1 sessions, allowing for personalised instruction tailored to each pupil’s level and learning needs. Pupils will have varying levels of Welsh ability, ranging from complete beginners to fluent speakers, so the ability to differentiate and adapt lessons is essential.
This is a part-time position for approximately 8 hours per week, with the exact timing flexible and negotiable.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver high-quality Welsh language lessons to pupils aged 8–16.
* Adapt teaching to support pupils with different levels of Welsh proficiency, from beginners to fluent speakers.
* Deliver lessons in small groups or 1:1 settings to support personalised learning.
* Develop pupils’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in Welsh.
* Encourage pupils’ confidence and enthusiasm for learning the Welsh language and culture.
* Prepare appropriate teaching resources and learning activities.
* Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to school staff where required.
* Maintain a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Person Specification:
Essential:
* Fluency in Welsh and English.
* Experience teaching or supporting the teaching of Welsh to children or young people.
* Ability to differentiate lessons for a range of abilities.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage small teaching groups effectively.
Desirable:
* A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE or equivalent).
* Experience teaching Welsh as a second language.
* Experience working in small group or 1:1 teaching environments.
* Understanding of the Welsh curriculum or language development frameworks.
