Determines batch adjustments utilizing lab blends, accepted guidelines and/or using batch adjustment history. Evaluates performance results against required performance criteria. The work involves the execution of specific instructions or procedures and typically comprises a complete segment of work, i.e., production batch testing and documentation, product testing for customers, adhesive formulation testing against criteria. At times it can include experimental projects of broader scope. The work product or service affects the accuracy, reliability or acceptability of further processes or services. Role accountabilities, expectations and responsibilities Able to operate all equipment and complete testing while maintaining a safe work environment. Aware of the immediate surrounds and able to stop work and correct safety hazards. Maintains clearly labelled waste disposal containers per EHS instructions and follows are environmental and safety regulations. Follows all quality and ISO 9001 requirements and procedures without deviation from process. Clearly documents all test results with high integrity and accuracy. Records data on official QC test forms and enters data in electronic database; completes and files paper documents of QC results. Active participant in continuous improvement objectives under the IPSA business systems. Understands the LDM board and how it applies to daily work. Can solve work collaboratively to solve problems within the department through critical thinking. Investigates claims about non-conforming product if they arise by working collaboratively with other functional groups using IPSA business system tools. Operates and tends equipment for generating batch quality and experimental performance results; make decisions regarding pass/fail, continued processing, and batch adjustments based on results and adjustment guidelines. Precisely weighs, measures and checks critical raw materials stored and issued to manufacturing from the QC lab. Through lab testing, assists in qualifying/validating new raw materials; conducts specified incoming raw material QC tests Insures QC testing samples are “conditioned” as required by procedures for specified tests. Prepares chemical solutions according to standard or desired formulas/formulations. Maintains laboratory equipment, utensils and apparatus in good working condition. Immediately reports maintenance defects, operational errors, or defective equipment to Supervisor. Follows current QC and R&D laboratory systems and procedures. Implementing new systems and procedures when required. Strictly follow standard methods of test. Disposal of hazardous waste in appropriate waste container and transport to central accumulation area The duties and responsibilities highlighted in this job description are indicative and may vary over time. Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred two – five years’ experience in working good manufacturing or laboratory experience. Experience using collaborative improvement tools such as lean tools or problem solving tools An awareness of environment, health and safety issues. A strong understanding of chemistry and the relevant technologies. A good level of IT literacy including Microsoft Office packages and databases. Good organizational skills and a methodical approach to work. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Able to test to a 30 or below in the Farnsworth Munsell 100 hue test.
