About the role
As Copywriter, you will produce high-quality, persuasive and strategically aligned content that strengthens Thorntons’ voice across digital, marketing and business development channels. Working closely with the Content Manager, you will transform complex legal and commercial ideas into clear, engaging narratives that reflect the firm’s tone of voice and support thought leadership, campaigns, and client engagement.
You will work directly with partners, lawyers, and marketing colleagues to develop compelling content, contribute to campaigns, and maintain editorial standards across all materials. Your role ensures that every piece of writing reflects the firm’s brand, communicates effectively with clients, and supports the firm’s growth and market presence and the firm’s ESG messaging where relevant.
It’s about:
* Content Creation and Editorial Excellence - producing polished, engaging content for websites, blogs, newsletters, campaigns, thought leadership, internal communications, and client materials and updating, editing and restructuring existing content.
* Storytelling & Thought Leadership - drafting, editing, and refining authored content and translating complex legal topics into accessible and compelling narratives.
* SEO & Digital Optimisation - ensuring content is optimised for search engines and maximises engagement and visibility.
* Campaign Support & BD Alignment – supporting marketing campaigns, targeted messaging, and sector initiatives; contributing to award submissions, pitches, proposals and internal communications, ensuring content is aligned with the firm’s commercial objectives.
* Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement – working constructively with partners, lawyers, and internal teams across the firm to shape and finalise content.
* Quality & Compliance – maintaining editorial standards, ensuring accuracy, tone, grammar, and adherence to regulatory and brand guidelines and approvals processes.
* Professional Growth & Continuous Improvement – staying up to date with content trends, legal sector communications, and emerging digital tools and responsible use of AI in content production.
What you’ll need
* Exceptional copywriting, proofreading, and editing skills.
* Strong understanding of tone of voice, brand messaging, and professional writing standards.
* Ability to translate complex concepts into clear, client-focused content.
* Confidence working with senior stakeholders and subject‑matter experts.
* Excellent organisation, time management, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
* Familiarity with SEO and digital content optimisation.
* A proactive, creative, and collaborative mindset.
