Baltzersen's are looking for two Bakery Assistants to join our team at our bakery in at Kettlesing Head - 7 Miles outside Harrogate.
Bakeri Baltzersen bakes a range of long fermented sourdough loaves, rye, ciabatta and more traditional yeasted white and granary style loaves/rolls. We also bake pastry and viennoiserie from scratch.
Bakery Assistant is the first rung on the ladder of becoming a fully trained artisan baker, or if that is not of interest can be a role that offers approachable working hours for the longer term.
We are currently fitting out a new area of the bakery where we plan to mix, shape and bake the majority of our bread roll products as well as some of our loaves. These will include hoagies, brioche buns, bagels, our Pain de Mie and more.
We'll teach you how to mix doughs, divide dough and shape the products using a combination of mechanical devices backed up by traditional hand skills. You'll learn how to prove the products before applying pre-bake finishes and then bake them to perfection in our new rack oven.
The role will also include some element of preparing the baked and cooled products for packing/transport.
If you are interested in learning more there will be opportunities to progress onto our Trainee Baker pathway which would see you spend time in our bread department and finally pastry as you become a fully trained artisan baker.

Shifts
We are open 7 days/week so we are looking for cover across these days:
Tue- Sat
Sun - Thu
Shifts are to be confirmed at this point but will take place between 7am and 8pm daily. It could be a mix of earlier and later shifts, to offer more variety in terms of tasks, or it may make more sense to work a fixed pattern. This can be agreed.
There is no access to the bakery site via public transport so applicants must have the ability to get to work by their own transport, but there is parking available on site.
Hours
This position is a full-time post offering a minimum of 37.5 hours per week.
Pay
The starting pay for this position is £12.22/hr.
Holidays
Holidays are calculated on an hourly basis at Bakeri Baltzersen and you accrue holiday for every hour you work.
