Our client, an enterprise digital & cloud transformation specialist serving clients in over 40 countries, is seeking an experienced Python Developer to support major UK Health sector programmes. The successful candidate will join agile delivery teams working on large-scale digital services within complex public-sector environments.
Location: Hybrid – mix of working from our client’s Leeds office (LS1 5JL) and home working.
Contract Length: 6 months (with potential extension).
IR35 Status: Inside IR35.
Rate: £550 – £700 per day (dependent on experience).
Role Overview
You will contribute to the design, development and delivery of Python-based services within a modern cloud-native architecture. The role involves working within multi-disciplinary agile teams delivering high-quality digital services to demanding public-sector clients.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop and maintain robust backend services using Python.
* Build scalable APIs and microservices to support digital platforms.
* Work within agile delivery teams contributing to sprint planning, delivery and retrospectives.
* Collaborate with architects, DevOps engineers and front-end developers to deliver integrated solutions.
* Participate in code reviews and maintain high standards of code quality and documentation.
* Troubleshoot, debug and optimise existing applications and services.
* Contribute to automated testing and CI/CD delivery pipelines.
Skills & Experience
Essential
* Strong commercial experience developing applications using Python in production environments.
* Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
* Experience working with SQL or NoSQL databases.
* Experience working within agile software delivery teams.
* Ability to operate effectively in a consulting or client-facing environment.
* Experience contributing to modern development practices including version control and automated testing.
Desirable
* Experience delivering projects within the UK public sector.
* Experience working on NHS or healthcare-related programmes.
* Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
* Experience working within complex enterprise or government delivery environments.
